Pain, Peace, and Prayer
3 June 2010
It is with intense pain that I would ask you to pray for the children at the second orphanage in Lura, along with the workers. John Mayet, a brilliant and incredible young man, has died today.
John lost both of his legs when a landmine blew them off. Along with the loss of his legs and top lip, he was also rejected by his parents because of the accident. John was the top academic in his class and always talked about the goodness of God. He is now seeing Him face to face.
We are broken beyond words, but not beyond hope! We do not mourn as those who do not have hope.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!! Do you know how he died? So thankful he’s with the Lord now, experiencing firsthand and with plain sight the full adoption he’s received from the Father.
This breaks my heart into a million pieces. I’m so sorry for the loss of John. I am praying for peace, joy, and hope in the middle of loss when they’ve already lost so much.
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet John in March of this year. We had a great time as I pushed his wheelchair across the orphanage yard as we “raced.” I will always treasure the pictures I have of us racing. He is “running” with our Lord now. Please tell Jennifer and Joslyn and the other mothers that I am thinking about them and praying for them.
